Denver, CO - Home
We finally hit our limit in the desert and moved on to Denver a day early. Alex's very gracious Brother and soon to be Sister-in-Law again gave us the use of their guest bedroom and shower (!!!!).
On the way back to Denver we finally did a hike that I've been wanting to do forever, Hanging Lake Trail. Most people I've talked to have said this is the quintessential Colorado hike, and because of that the trail has been abused and soon will require permits since people can't follow rules (don't worry, this holds true everywhere. The amount of people we've had to yell at for littering and feeding animals is astounding). Honestly, this may have been the most beautiful hike we've done to date. We trudged up the mountain and forgot how much the altitude could hurt, ending spectacularly here:
We continued on to Denver a day early, and luckily our EXTREMELY AWESOME AND HOSPITABLE FRIENDS (That's you Jess and Kyle!!!) hosted us for 3 nights. We showered EVERY day, and washed ALL our clothes and even got to cook for them in a REAL kitchen. We love you guys (and your clean sheets) so much!
We took care of some much needed business, seeing old friends, getting the oil changed, etc. and prepared for the big day we were there for, Lindsey and Laura's wedding!!! When we initially planned our trip we made sure our crazy route would take us right through Denver during this time to make sure we didn't miss it, and it was absolutely fabulous. Congrats on love and all that, but the tacos were fricken amazing!! I've never eaten (and drank) so much at a wedding.
This is after 4 sangria's:
And we spent the rest of the night doing something along these lines. We were supposed to leave the next day but ended up booking another night in our hotel because we could not function.
We had a blast and it made us realize how much we missed home and our friends. It was a little hard to move on but being back on the road felt awesome, and we got enough of a rest to take on another week of camping.
