Going On...Pisa!

Pisa, frankly, doesn't even deserve its own post. It was that boring. But I'll give it some cred anyways. So we left Florence in high spirits and arrived around 11 in Pisa, Italy. We checked our bags at the train station and went on a 45 minute walk through basically nothing to the leaning tower. I won't deny the tower was pretty cool, and it is in fact leaning, but there was nothing else to see. We found it was 15 euros to climb the tower (Sorry, but I'm not going to pay 20 dollars to climb an unsafe structure) so we took our holding the tower up pictures and left.
Here's the tower:

We had some lunch near the tower and decided to leave. We had planned to stay in Pisa for a couple of more hours, but there was NOTHING else to see. We looked at our Eurail timetable and ran back to the station to try to catch the 1:30 train. We missed it by five minutes.
The next train for Rome didn't leave for another 2 hours so we went to go find somewhere to get a drink. We found a place far enough away from the train station that we assumed it would be a little cheaper. Alex ordered a glass of wine, and I ordered a glass of beer. Twenty minutes later we hear a man complaining in English/Italian and got the gist of the situation: He was upset that he had to pay 4 euros for his glass of wine. At least that's what we thought the situation was. Alex and I laughed at him saying, "Ha! Newb! That's how much you should expect to pay in Europe! We are such seasoned travelers, look at us! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!" When we got our check we found out why the other tourist was so upset.

It was 8 euros for a glass of wine, and 8 euros for a beer. about 12 dollars each. Now we realized the man had been saying the drink was only WORTH 4 euros. We paid our 2 and half hours worth of work ( how much we had to work before we went to Europe for that much money) and grumbled our way back to the train station. We didn't eat out that night.

Biggest Place to be ripped off in Europe: Pisa, Italy
