Vatican City - Sistine Chapel

Some advice for the Vatican: DON'T GO ON THE FREE DAY!!!!!

We SUPER budgeted on this trip, which in many places helped, and in many more places....was our downfall. So yes, once a month, Vatican City has a free day, and you should not be there on that day. Its only 20 Dollars!!!! Pay the money. Or you might run into this:

This is the wall on the outside of the city. Believe me, the line doesn't go just around the corner. Its another 4 blocks.

We've made some progress! All those people are behind us. And that's what the people in front of me are thinking. BUT, at this part of the line, I bought a killer scarf. The guy selling scarfs was great...until the police ran him off for illegally selling items on the street (I hid my scarf pretty fast).

Near the Entrance!!!!

 And were here!

 And!!!!!!!! more lines :(

 Finally inside. Take a look!

So once you get inside, its not okay to take pictures of the Sistine chapel....but everyone else was doing it:

My advice: Pay to get in! We were rushed through it, continually bombarded with people, and so fed up with everything that we left and missed half of the city. Spend a good day here, and as far as I've heard, you won't regret it!

Wanna hear about Pompeii? You will!

  1. Oh man! This sounds horrific. Totally probably ruined the Sistine Chapel and all it's glory for you, I'm sure. Good to know, free isn't always best. When we went, we happened upon a service from il papa himself, even got to see the pope mobile and everything, not to brag or anything.
